Presence & status
The dot next to your name, what sets it, and what it means.
Your status is set from Set status in your avatar menu, or by clicking your status in the chat sidebar.
| Status | Bookable? | Silences notifications? |
|---|---|---|
| Available | Yes | No |
| Away | Yes | No |
| Do not disturb | Yes | Yes |
| Working from home | Yes | No |
| Out sick | No | Yes |
| Out of office | No | Yes |
| Custom | Yes | No |
You can add a short message, and override the bookable and silence defaults for any status. "Bookable" means teammates can schedule you — turning it off blocks your calendar for them.
Auto-clearing
Set a status to clear itself: Don't clear (the default), 1 hour, 4 hours, Today, or This week. When it expires it really goes — you don't stay on Do Not Disturb for a week because you set it during one meeting.
Status you don't set yourself
Two rules can show you as Away without you doing anything. An explicit status you set always wins over both.
| Setting | Behaviour | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-away when inactive | After 3 hours with no activity your dot turns Away — and flips straight back when you return. | On (switch it off in Settings → Notifications) |
| Follow my work schedule | Outside your working hours, and on days you don't work, you show as Away. | Off — opt in if you want it |
Every workspace gets a default Monday–Friday, 9-to-5 schedule at setup whether or not anyone confirmed it. Turning this on for everybody would mark somebody visibly typing at 19:00 as away, so it waits for you to ask for it.
If your workspace runs the Shift-Based Scheduler, the schedule your dot follows is your rota, not office hours — so a night shift reads as working through the night and away during the day. Set your hours under Org settings → Work Schedule and the shift patterns under Org settings → Shift patterns.
